Snow???

This will only make sense to people who actually live here. So this is the perfect place for it.
We actually have SNOW this year!! *spins*
You have to admit, this is pretty significant, as far as weather goes over here. Seeing how we've had a year or two in the past without any at all. And we're still supposed to get more.....
If we get enough, I'm going to build a snow fox.
As long as I'm posting this, I might as well try to make it worth reading or responding to. So what's the best memory anyone has about snow or winter in general, since we actually have some now?

One of my best memories of snow is the big DE Snow/Ice storm in the early 90's, when I can remember my dad opening the garage door so we could get out, and having the snow piled halfway up the frame. Also around then, watching Mitzi, our malemute, play in the snow. When it stormed, she ended up standing on her house so she didn't sink.
Another one is more recent, my sophmore year at college, when we got a huge blizzard and were prettymuch snowed into the dorms. Classes were canceled mainly because even the sidewalks were blocked, despite a ton of salt and Physical Plant's mini-snowplow. The snow was easily up to our waists, and higher in some spots. We made a snow-woman in front of the dorms, and after a couple of days when the snow iced over, we stopped using sidewalks because it was too much fun "Elf-Walking" on the ice-covered snow. That was fun, until we fell in......
I'm hoping for another big snow next semester. Since my room and my friends' rooms have windows that open onto the porch roof, we're going to build snow-women and snow-foxes up there.
I think the last snow-woman plan had a big snow-woman with black hair (wig), goth makeup, a Pride Flag or Pride Shirt, a cloak, and fox ears/tail or cat ears/tail. She's the Goth/GLBT/Furry/General Insanity Pride Snow-woman. If she's made. Or if I get out before my friends, it'll be the Goth/GLBT Pride Snow-Woman, and the Furry/General Insanity Pride Fox. Not sure if we'll combine them yet or not. Depends on the amount of snow.
We had snow here the other day, but it was barely anything, and it was gone within a day or two, aside from the random ice patches that I adore crunching. ^_^
The only thing I like about winter is snow. Aside from that, I want summer! *bundles up under a mountain of blankets* RL-Fur would be so nice. Annoying naked skin loses heat too fast..... [Note: Naked as in not-furry, so get your minds out of the gutter.]

HOLY FREAKING CRAP!
It's 4am and I am now wide awake and freaking *wired*. There's SNOW! Not just a dusting, I mean 2-hour delay and then some snow! Going to bed at 3:30am (a little late, 2am is normal), I look out my window (without glasses) and realize that it's suddenly a lot brighter than it should be. Glasses go on, and I realize that I can't see the grass anymore. Or the sidewalk. Or the street, for that matter. It's piled pretty high on the porch roof (I may or may not be the insane-o freak who leans out to stick a ruler in the snow), and it's still coming down pretty strongly.
*giddy dance* Snow, snow, snow! Beautiful, wonderful, school-cancelling snow! At least, I'm hoping for a cancellation....
We'll see in 2 hours or so.... school closings normally come out around 6am or so...
We're gettin' slammed in PA, so I can only imagine what it's going to be like in DE... I miss Polytech's system of doing whatever the other districts were doing. Wilson's completely separate, but generally goes with the other schools. *looks out* Yeah, if I was in DE we would so not have school.....

Snow???

Sadly, we didn't get it quite so bad down here. Somewhere between two and four inches, and most of it melted. They still didn't plow any of the streets near where I live, though... No cancellation down here, I believe. Pity.
I didn't even get to build anything. Hopefully they'll be more...
My turn, then.
Not much, but when I was younger, much younger, and still lived with my father, we'd all go out and play in the snow. We'd (my sister and I) have enough layers of clothes on to stop an artillery blast, and my father would grab a snow shovel, and pile as much together as he could. He'd do all the work, and we'd "help" by getting in the way, though he never really complained about it. When it was done, we'd have a snow dragon in the yard, or such. And we'd take pictures, and laugh, and play around it until it got stained, and blackened, and muddy, and melted in the snow within the week.
Not much, but it's what I remember most. One of these days, I'll have to try and top that myself....

We've still got snow.... I'm such a slacker, I've yet to build anything or go tray-sledding.
Hm... maybe after lunch I'll drag a few friends and a camera to go sledding...

Ladies and gentlemen, we have snow. In theory, twelve bloody inches of snow.
My plans for a snow fox are now being revived....
I am personally beginning to believe the calendar is off by a month or two. But at this point, that hardly matters. I just hope the stuff holds together well....
And that we had more people to post stuff on here. Main topic of the thread still exists, for those willing to share. And if you'll excuse me, I'm going to stare out a window now.
