But I did a bit of looking about on the net for tips on how to help deal with. Unfortunately there is, nor ever will be, a miracle cure for what we have to pay, but that doesn't mean we can't stretch out the usage a bit....soooooo...here are a few tips on making the most of your miles per gallon...
1. Check your tire pressure everytime you go to fill up. Lower tire pressure will make your tires drag and cause you to burn more gas.
2. Is your car a mess like mine an andy's? Well clean it out, any excess weight on the car can increase the amount of gas you burn.
3. A lot of people drive around hoping to find the cheapest gas station but don't realise they've spent more gas and money just looking around then what they could have saved by just hitting any gas station. Best thing to do is just keep your eye out while you're driving to work or when you go shopping or something that would be considered driving for a productive purpose.
4. Don't use air conditioning, that takes about 8 horsepower to run and that eats gas quick. However, having your windows open also causes a problem due to wind resistance which also eats up fuel. Best thing to do is drive with the windows just cracked so you don't burn up and just deal with the annoying heat...besides summers almost over anyway so deal with.
5. Don't suddenly drive off or suddenly stop, this also burns up gas something awful.
6. Don't go over 55 mph, anything after that is burning up way too much gas, if you really want to get some where's sooner, leave you're damn house earlier.
7. Don't overfill your gas, when the pump stops that means it's full, anything else is a waste.
8. Stop doing drive-thrus unless there is practially no line at all.
9. Unless it's VERY VERY VERY VERY cold there is no need for warming a car up, it's just a waste.
10. Get your gas during the night, gas is generally more compact when it's cold so more will actually pump through than the meter says.
...thats about it really...it does help in the long run though..so yeah give it a shot.
